​Stephen Lewis founded the Stephen Lewis Foundation with his daughter, Ilana Landsberg-Lewis, in 2003. In response to the emerging crisis faced by grandmothers in Africa, the Grandmothers to Grandmothers Campaign began in 2006 and has spread across Canada and into the United Kingdom, Australia and the United States. We now number 10,000 strong grandmothers and grandothers!.

Stephen passed away in 2026. His legacy of action, hope, determination and solidarity will continue to be our inspiration.
