ABOUT US

Who We Support

HELP LESOTHO is a grass roots organization working to create an AIDS-free generation, to end the cycle of poverty and support the future leaders of Lesotho. They provide services and in-depth programs to 10,000 people each year in very remote regions of Lesotho. The KGC is the largest funder for Help Lesotho's Grandmother Support Program.

Help Lesotho provides:

Direct delivery of education, leadership development and psychosocial support to grandmothers, children and youth and much more. HIV/AIDS education and gender equality are an integral part of all programs.

Since 2006, Kingston Grandmother Connection (KGC) has raised approximately $815,212.00 for the Stephen Lewis Foundation Grandmothers to Grandmothers Campaign and Help Lesotho (to Nov 2019). We help support African grandmothers who are raising their orphaned grandchildren. HIV/AIDS has devastated African families and many grandmothers are the only family members left behind to give care to the children. We provide funds for programs to educate and provide awareness of HIV/AIDs. Led by a group of 200 members KGC takes pride in facilitating events around Kingston to help families and communities in Africa.

The Stephen Lewis Foundation works with community-level organizations delivering programs for grandmothers caring for their orphaned grandchildren affected by HIV/AIDS. We allocate a majority of our funds to their Grandmothers to Grandmothers Campaign. They aim to create awareness and implement support in Canada for Africa’s grandmothers.

Stephen Lewis Foundation provides:

Families with food, educational supplies and fees, medical care, HIV counselling and testing, adequate housing and bedding, support groups, home-based care visits and much more.
