Our third annual market raised $23,310.00! Look for our Market for Africa this year in early November!

To raise such a large amount of money in such difficult financial times is truly inspiring and it is a tribute to the committment   of our members that we were so successful! I want to express my sincere gratitude to the members of the committee who worked very hard to plan the market and then to collect, price and inventory the items at their tables.

I also want to thank all of the members who helped with setting up and working the day of the market. Many of you sent crafts, baked goods, soup, hand made knitting and sewing and donations of jewelry, linens and previously enjoyed African items.

I know that the committee members have written to thank you for your generous donation of time, energy and talent! I am also aware that there is a risk of missing someone when so many people helped in so many ways so please, if you have not heard from your 'table leader' do not be offended and accept this note as recognition of your contribution.

SALES TABLES:

If you have an idea about the placing of one of Sales Tables at any gathering or special event, please contact

These are card tables or banquet tables for promoting KGC and fundraising with donation forms and small items. Our Sales Tables appear anywhere from a Church Bazaar to a retail location. You will be given a list of names of volunteers and their contact information - people who enjoy working a 3-4 hour shift at one of these tables on an occasional basis. We are always well received and people love to contribute to the cause by buying one of our interesting gifts.

Education Committee:

If you can suggest a group or club who would be interested in a presentation from our Education Committee, please contact one of the individuals listed below.

The education committee is a group of 8-10 members who are trained to support to make presentations to community groups on behalf of KGC about the plight of African grandmothers and their orphan grandchildren. To date KGC members have made presentations both to small groups of 20 people and to large groups of 150. To ensure consistency of information and professional delivery, KGC requires a core group of well prepared presenters.

For those who are interested in becoming presenters we will provide a "skeleton" or presentation outline that you can use to develop your own presentation to initially share with other presenters, lessons learned from previous presentations, presentation materials (DVDs, storyboards, artifacts and posters) and tips on how to handle questions from the audience.
